| Oxycontin dealer gets 7 years |

A Pembroke man who had applied to become a Boston police officer was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison on Wednesday for distributing Oxycontin pills. Christopher Cook, 29, of West Street was arrested on March 13, 2008 when he was caught by FBI agents attempting to steal what he believed to be OxyContin pills from a drug source. Cook also was accused of selling 200 OxyContin pills to a cooperating witness on Jan. 28, 2008. OxyContin is a prescription painkiller and a Schedule II controlled substance. The FBI had been following Cook’s activity since late 2007. On Nov. 18, Cook pled guilty to federal charges of possession and distribution and attempted possession with intent to distribute OxyContin pills. U.S. District Court Judge Mark L. Wolf on Wednesday, Feb. 18 sentenced Cook to 87 months (seven years and three months) in prison, a $15,000 fine, a $200 mandatory special assessment and three years supervised release. |
