Handguns stolen in break-in at local home
Thursday, 28 January 2010 12:24

Five handguns were stolen from a Congress Street home last Saturday during a break-in.

The resident returned home around 2 p.m. to find a rear door smashed in and five handguns, all of which were legally permitted and had been stored in separate lock boxes, missing, according to Pembroke Police Lt. Mike Jenness.

Jenness said it appeared the burglar had been looking for a “quick score” and, after smashing open one box and finding a handgun, quickly took the remaining guns to resell and fled.

Police are investigating the incident.
