Andrew Chapman’s senior year took a sharp turn in two seconds last fall. During an Oct. 6 game between the Titans and the Whitman-Hanson Panthers, the varsity football running back was trying to plow through a Whitman-Hanson defender when the two smashed heads. Chapman said he saw a “white flash” but felt fine after the hit. Neither he nor anyone else thought he had just suffered a mild concussion.

The return of Pembroke High School meant the rebirth of old traditions and the possibility of creating some history for Pembroke.  Last month, recent graduate Bobby Gratzer became the first Pembroke High School player to be selected to play in the prestigious Eastern Massachusetts Shriners Football Classic. The game features the top players from the area and has seen more than 30 past and present NFL players, including Doug Flutie, participate in the battle between North and South. Grazter represented Pembroke as a member of the victorious South squad in a game that was held at Gillette Stadium on June 18.

The Pembroke 12-year-old Cal Ripken team continued their quest for a state title at the Eastern Massachusetts tournament in Bourne. The team started their weekend with an impressive showing in the tournament’s skills competitions.
